VBS @ WCC - June 18-22

Windermere Community Church held its 3rd Annual Vacation Bible School for kids 4 years old through 4th Grade. The Theme was Lifeway's Game Day Central - Where Heroes are Made! Over 300 kids and volunteers participated to learn what a true hero is all about. 43 children became new Christians! Over $2,000.00 was raised to help feed children in an orphanage in Africa. Pastor Mark Matheson and his wife, Carla, personally visited this orphanage on their mission trip to Africa. Each day the children participated in Bible Study, Crafts, Recreation, Snacks and a Big Worship Rally, led by their worship pastor, Ray Lloyd

VBS @ FBCW - June 4-8

We had an awesome VBS this summer at First Baptist Church Windermere. We ministered to over 400 children with our “Game Day Central, Where Heroes Are Made” theme. The Worship Rallies led by Mike and Amy Thomas gave the kids unforgettable songs along with sign language that really drove home the message of what being a true hero is all about. This year kids brought in money for our Upward Basketball and Cheerleading Scholarship Fund, raising $1665.91. We had over 100 volunteers give their time, energy and lots of love to pull this all together. We are happy to connect with our community through this exciting program. Thank you to everyone who donated crafts and snack items. The ABFs supplied snacks for our 112 volunteers. Our teachers were able to see 22 kids accept Christ. GO TEAM!

Cross Training Camp - May 18/19

We had 26 rising 5th graders, along with ten student and adult leaders who attended the Cross Training Camp this past weekend at Orange Lake Resort and Country Club. It was the largest group we have ever had at Cross Training! It was a great time of getting to know new faces, as well as welcoming those we have watched grow up! The purpose for the event is to introduce the new students to the leaders of W.I.R.E.D. Student Ministry so they will feel more comfortable as they leave the world of Children’s Ministry behind. We all had a great time! Tammy Combs

Rising Sun Food Pantry - May 12/14

Last Sat. and Mon. women and men unloaded 3 huge truckloads of food collected by the post office for Rising Sun food pantry. Many of those unloading were from Windermere Ministries. 3 churches and Edgewood Ranch have benefited from their efforts so far. On Sat. June 23 from 8am - noon Pastor Kimbrough is looking for help in sorting this food into groups. There is a tremendous amount to be done in a short amount of time. Please help us get the word out. Students are welcome to help and can earn community service hours. The location of the storage unit is at route 50 and Dillard St. in Winter Garden right beside Mc Donald's. Thanks for all your help in this mission. It's amazing how God is feeding His people through the post office. Marian Raftis

Beautiful Battle Girl's Retreat - May 4/5

Written by Kathryn Fowler, W.I.R.E.D Ministries

The title of the 30 hour retreat was "Beautiful Battle." The Speaker, Amy Brady, led the girl's through 6 sessions based from the book "Every Young Woman's Battle" by Shannon Ethridge. The girls were placed into 'Platoon Groups' as they competed in games of physical challenge and activities that tested their minds and out-of-the-box abilities. They had Battalion groups which encouraged unity and openness in small group discussions, and even a "Combat Manual" to help guide them and offer room for them to digest their own personal battles.

While the topic was purity and personal integrity, the lessons extended much further than that; from relationships, to authenticity, to sportsmanship, to learning to enjoy Christ's reasons, to confidence building, to personal challenges, to acceptance of forgiveness, to a new knowledge of where to "put your Jesus"- on the dashboard of your truck, of course. It was a weekend in which faces were unmasked, lives shared, and Jesus shown.

It was a fabulous and freeing time of discovery and decisions. Girl's got to be more than "ladies" while investigating what it takes to be a strong and confident woman- in body, mind, soul, and spirit.

Costa Rica Mission Trip - April 14-22, 2007

Eleven people from Windermere Ministries went to Costa Rica for a one week trip to live with and work with the people of the town of Liberia. During this mission trip, they not only taught them, but learned from them too. The campaign saw 425 individuals come to know Christ, 247 of them influenced by our team, and four new churches started in some pretty remote areas. One group even had the opportunity to share in a public school. Our efforts caught the attention of the local news station who videotaped a presentation of the Gospel to be shown throughout the city.

EggTraOrdinary Easter Egg Hunt - April 7, 2007

Over a thousand in attendance hunted for 18,000 candy filled eggs at OUC Park the Saturday before Easter. The event started with an Easter drama overlooking Lake Down and songs from the Children's 3-in-1 Choir. Everybody left with their baskets and their hearts full.

Rwanda/Burundi - March, 2007

We spent 10 days on a Missions Outreach into the neighborhoods of Ruhengeri, Rwanda. The trip consisted of 14 people from all over America (5 from Florida). Rwanda is still recovering from the genocide of 1994 where more than 1,000,000 people were slaughtered in 100 days. This area of Africa has so much potential, but is so lacking. They have virtually no material possessions, but they are hospitable and loving, and they want to know about Jesus Christ. Over 3,400 people prayed to receive Jesus Christ as their Savior and 8 new churches were planted. We made a side trip to Burundi at the invitation of the President there. He is a Christian and he desires to Burundi be a nation that trusts God. This meeting was very pivotal in establishing key relationships that should result in significant ministry opportunities opening up there for leadership outreach and church planting. Ray and Mary Berryman

Costa Rica - Jan 4-12, 2007

Our recent mission trip to Costa Rica gave us an opportunity to see how asking for support from others provides a sharing of God's blessings. On our first trip we were reluctant to "impose" on others, so we paid for the entire trip ourselves. Before the current trip we requested support from 24 families asking for financial and prayer support. Thirteen responded with help that covered ½ the cost of our trip. We were blown away by the notes, letters and calls we also received from them. They told us they felt blessed to be able to help and be a part of our mission through their gifts, thoughts and prayers. So we have learned that on our first trip we had thoughtlessly denied others the opportunity to share in God's blessings that flow from participating in a mission trip. You really do have three ways to be involved in missions: PRAY- GIVE- GO! Our team had 54 salvations, with Becky & me accounting for 30 of them. Steve Marcereau
